AW magazine13:53

Pozdrawiam, życze miłego dnia i czytania.

A NEW CREATIVE DIRECTOR FOR GALLIANO

The designer who worked alongside John Galliano for decades took the final bow at the Galliano menswear show on Friday.
Bill Gaytten, who has been part of Galliano’s eponymous label for 23 years, spurred speculation that he will be named officially as Galliano’s replacement by bowing in the designer’s place.Sidney Toledano, John Galliano andChristian Dior CEO, explained that Gaytten ‘has been leading the design team’ and oversaw the execution of the men’s collection, WWD reported. Although Toledano rushed backstage to pose for photographs with Gaytten, and a bio of the designer circulated to press lauded his ‘expertise to innovate patterns, cut and drape’, Toledano stopped short of indicating Gaytten’s new title. As this is essentially a news story based on a bow, we remain sceptical. After all, Gaytten may be reaping the credit due for guiding Galliano through troubled times while the executives finalise the appointment of another designer. If, however, he is to replace his former leader, it could indicate a commitment to maintaining the house’s techniques and style.

VICTORIA BECKHAM LAUNCHES NEW FASHION LINE

Fans of Victoria Beckham’s classic and elegant eponymous label are in for a treat, as the pop star-turned-designer is launching a new line, called Victoria by Victoria Beckham.

The new dress line, which is due to hit stores in spring 2012, is inspired by the angst-ridden cartoon character Emily the Strange, as well as Victoria’s more relaxed alter ego – think younger, more girly and '60s-inspired – but without the hefty price tag. The collection is expected to retail from around £350.‘These are the kind of dresses I’ve been searching for,’ Victoria tells WWD. ‘The perfect little summer dress, something that was fun, something that was girly, something that was easy to wear, something that would take you from day through to night.

The collection will still carry some hallmarks of Victoria’s main line – now in its sixth season – such as vibrant colours, but in a more fluid silhouette with heaps of scalloped edges, pleating and fun prints including clouds, moons and cats.Victoria revealed: ‘I’m opening these designs to women and girls of all different shapes and sizes, people who maybe want something less tight and clingy and structured.’What’s more, there’s even talk of an exciting launch event to coincide with London Fashion Week, as well as her first standalone Victoria Beckham store.
